The Scottish Police made a statement from his family, who are still reconciling his devastating losses.
They said: “Xander was a very happy, cheerful and intelligent boy who was so loved by his parents Victoria and Paul. Xander was a real chatbox who loved books and played with all types of vehicles and his Lego. He really enjoyed life and enriched the lives of everyone he met. ”

Yesterday we told how Morningside residents have mourned since the fatal accident news, and dozens of bewildered locals left flower tributes at the scene.
Teddy bears peek at a series of flower bouquets on the scene – some of them contain heartfelt messages to Xander and his family at this difficult time.
One reads: “RIP the little one. Fly high with the angels. ”
Another one: “Pretty boy, we love you and we miss you. Your smile can brighten a room. Always in Our Hearts. ”

Xander’s 37-year-old mother was discharged from the hospital.
The police are continuing to investigate the incident and have asked eyewitnesses to provide information that could assist them in their investigation.
Inspector Roger Park of the Edinburgh Road Police Unit said: “Our thoughts remain in the Xander family at this incredibly difficult time.
“Investigations into the accident are ongoing, a full forensic crash investigation was conducted at that time, and officers continue to track down and talk to prominent witnesses, as well as viewing CCTV and vehicle camera footage.
“The 37-year-old pedestrian injured in the incident, Xander’s mother, was also discharged from the hospital after treatment.
