The Hoover police and fire paramedics responded to Galleria at 15:18. The Hoover 911 center received multiple calls to fire, which were shot inside the mall. Response officers found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Royta Giles Jr and other victims were transferred to hospital
The two victims were transferred to the Children’s Hospital and the third victim to the UAB Hospital. A fourth victim took herself to American Family Care and was transferred to the UAB Hospital.
Shot in the head, Royta died shortly after coming to Children. Police said the three other victims were treated and released on Friday evening.
As other officers arrived on the stage, they were warned to a man with a firearm from the parking deck of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This suspect was identified as Coleman. He was detained without incident.
