When the detectives questioned Verkamp, he said that he had sent obscene messages of the same type to another 17-year-old student, while teaching at a different high school outside Boone County. Verkamp admitted that the student was 17 years old and admitted having authority in school.
Lawmakers said Verkamp maintained her relationship with the 17-year-old boy, and that it turned into a teacher who had sex with her at her home in Boone County.
