Relatives of a 23-year-old woman who has been missing for a week said Wednesday they believe her body was found in the Gramercy Park neighborhood in South Los Angeles.


The Los Angeles Police Department did not confirm the identification of Mikeona Johnson, 23, as the person found dead. The authorities have also not said if they suspect a dirty act or how the person died. But some relatives told KTLA that Johnson matched the description of the person found, and the vehicle discovered in the 1800 block of West 95th Street appears to be his.

LAPD confirmed that the body of Mikeona Johnson was found inside the vehicle of a missing person.

“Detectives from our Missing Persons Unit were tracking this area based on a tip they received about a missing person case,” said LAPD Capt. Scot Williams.
Johnson’s relatives said he lives a few blocks from where the car was found. It was a silver Mercedes like the car she was driving, relatives said.

Mikeona Johnson Last Seen

Since September 9, her loved ones have been roaming the neighborhood and handing out flyers in hopes of finding her. She was last seen in a purple shirt and gray sweatpants as she made her way to Burger Palace, located near Western and West Florence avenues, family members said.

“They’ve been on the streets all week looking for her,” said her aunt, Lakeisha Amos.
“She was a sweetheart,” Amos said. “She did not drink, did not participate in clubs, did not celebrate, she was a mother, a devoted mother.”

Her family described the woman as the 23-year-old Mikeona Johnson, the mother of two who went missing last week.


Johnson’s sister, Allisha Tillman, said, “Mom should bury her daughter. “I have to bury my sister and someone knows something.”
The car was found a few blocks from where Johnson lived.

“The car wasn’t there and suddenly it was there,” said Johnson’s cousin Kashe Amos. “Me and his sister were looking for him every day, and somehow his car came out on this street we do every day.”

Family members said they believed Johnson’s partner and the father of his 1-year-old daughter was the last person to see him live.


“He was innocent,” Tillman said. It doesn’t do anything. That girl goes to school, takes care of her kids, make sure her kids are okay. ”

Tillman said that her sister is sweet, takes lessons online and is focused on being the best possible mom for her kids.
“He was always nice to people, he did everything he could for people, and I don’t know why anyone would do this to him,” Amos said. “He takes care of his own business, neither drama nor anything.”

The Los Angeles Police Department said it was investigating the death as a murder, although the officers did not say whether or not he is currently a suspect.
