Lueck was last seen on June 17, 2019. His body was found tied up in a canyon with a hole near his head. The doctor said Lueck died from blunt trauma to the skull.

Prosecutors say there were pictures of Lueck on Ajayi’s phone, although he claimed he did not know him. The police found burnt items believed to belong to Lueck in his backyard.

Gill said Ajayi also admitted the Forced Sexual Abuse allegation in a separate case.

The lawyer of Ayoola Ajayi, accused of murdering a University of Utah student whose body was found burned and tied up in northern Utah canyon last year, said Ajayi planned to murder MacKenzie Lueck before she even took her out of the park.

Defense attorney Neal Hamilton said Ajayi and Lueck met on Seeking Arrangement, a dating site where wealthier men pay for dates with women and sometimes for sexual intimacy. Police had not previously revealed how Ajayi and Lueck met, but court documents showed that they both had accounts on the site.

Ajayi, 32, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and human body disrespect in connection with his murder. Judge Vernice Trease is expected to sentence him to life imprisonment on October 23, without the possibility of parole under a defense agreement.
