The tragic accident of Lewis Fleming

Emergency services – including the Dublin Coast Guard, fire services, ambulance personnel, and a mountain rescue team, were summoned to the area at 2:30 pm local time on Wednesday.

A second person was rescued near the top of the waterfall. Gardaí (Irish police) appears to treat death as a “tragic accident”.
Powerscourt in Wickers County in Enniskerry is a large country land popular with tourists.
North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey said the news brought great grief to the local community.
“No one can start imagining what the family is going through,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
Irish Minister of Higher Education and local Tank Destroyer Simon Harris paid tribute to the coast guard post for his efforts to rescue the second man.

Tribute to Lewis Fleming

A tribute was paid to a boy from 15-year-old Co Antrim who died after falling from Powerscourt Falls in Co Wicklow.

Coleraine Grammar Director David Carruthers said the school community had been “devastated” by the news.
“The entire school community is devastated to learn of Lewis Fleming’s tragic death on vacation in County Wicklow, which Gardai is treating as an accident.
15-year-old Lewis Fleming of Ballymoney was a student at Coleraine Grammar School.
Gardai said he died at the scene on Wednesday afternoon and was hospitalized.
