Kieran Creaven Crime Story and appearance in court

He appeared before Judge Bryan Smyth at the Dublin District Court.

After the controversial bail hearing, Judge Smyth gave bail on various terms. It included a ban to Mr Creaven, who used social media, and a requirement to approve an independent guarantee of € 10,000 due to the seriousness of the charges.

However, he could not be punished on bail and was detained until the conditions were met.

Detective Garda Johanna Doyle told Judge Bryan Smyth that the accused’s response to the charges was: “There was no response until I spoke to my lawyer.”

Detective Garda Doyle, affiliated with the Online Child Abuse Unit, requested bail due to the seriousness of the case and fears it would break out of jurisdiction.

He said some of the charges carry a possible life sentence.

He claimed that in November 2017, a search was conducted in Creaven’s home, resulting in photos and videos of the children being discovered. He said that many electronic devices were confiscated.

He told the court that forensic investigations were carried out.

It has been alleged that there are a number of extremely graphic videos and that he sexually abused children via Skype.

He allegedly paid girls and sent phone loans and had two Facebook accounts for sexually abusing children.

Detective Garda Doyle said there is evidence that he regularly travels to work in various jurisdictions, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.

An Garda feared that Siochana might step outside of his jurisdiction beyond his reach.

He admitted that his defense attorney Luke Staines and his client went to the offices of his legal representative and knew that the charges would come. He had agreed to meet with gardaí to be charged with the appointment.

Detective Garda Doyle said that an operational decision had only been made this morning to arrest him. Mr. Staines said his client had no reason to leave and had the right to go to other countries.

The defense attorney, who requested bail, acknowledged that his client faced extremely serious charges, but stated that there was no evidence that he was unlikely to appear in court.

He argued that this criterion for bail appeal was not met.

Mr. Staines also stated that he is willing to meet with the station and is in regular contact with his lawyer.

He said that his client had limited facilities.

Judge Bryan Smyth said the situation was advanced as Mr. Creaven was indicted and that he should have some kind of surety.
