Juli Briskman Akima, who had been fired from her job for giving the finger to the motorcade of Donald Trump, was elected to the board of supervisors for Loudoun County, Virginia.

A legion of reasons propel political neophytes to run for office, but none may be as unusual as what inspired Juli Briskman, the cyclist who gave President Trump the finger two years ago and found herself without a job and at the center of a national uproar.

On Tuesday, Briskman got a new job, winning a seat on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors — ousting a Republican in the process.

The moment was captured by a photographer, whose picture of Briskman — her back to the camera, finger raised — found its way to Twitter and set off a social media storm. Days later, after she told her bosses that she was the woman behind the finger, her employer, Akima, a government contracting firm, fired her.

On October 31st of 2017, Juli Briskman was photographed giving the middle finger to the presidential motorcade as she was riding a bicycle. 
Juli’s employer deemed that it violated their social media policies after she had posted it to her Twitter and Facebook accounts. 
However, Ms. Briskman said she had emphasized to management that she had not been in working hours when the photograph was taken and had not mentioned her employers on the social media pages. 
Ms. Briskman also alleged that a male colleague was allowed to keep his job after deleting a post deemed as offensive in a separate incident. The Director she mentioned had called someone a “Fucking Libtard Asshole” on Facebook[5]
When asked if she regretted it, she said: “I’d do it again”. Briskman also said that she participated in the Women’s March after Donald Trump’s inauguration, standing outside the CIA building with a sign that said, “Not my President.” 

Why Juli Briskman Fired fro Job

Juli Briskman was on a bike ride in October 2017 and was photographed making the gesture as Trump’s motorcade went by. She told her bosses what happened after the photo went viral and was asked to leave her government contracting job or face termination. She sued and won a severance claim, but her wrongful-termination lawsuit was dismissed.
