62-year-old John P. Pradun from Wilmette was charged with twice aggravated criminal sexual abuse, an inappropriate child’s request, grooming, harmful materials, child pornography and having a controlled substance, he said.
John Pradun Investigations
Wilmette police began investigating Pradun earlier this month after receiving a report of possible sexual abuse about a young child.
During the investigation, Wilmette police said she obtained evidence of Pradun’s allegation that she had committed sexual crimes against two young children, including showing her a digital photo last month and providing alcohol and drugs to minors.
According to court records, prosecutors claim that women victims aged 15 and 14, other girls and parties, often go to Pradun’s home for parties where the minors drink alcohol.

According to prosecutors, Pradun was aware of the parties and would offer girls alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes and Xanax.

The girls attending the parties were aware that they had a retired law enforcement force, and according to prosecutors, they referred to him with the nickname “Po-Po”.

Officials said Pardun had no previous criminal history.
According to a spokesman, Pradun retired in November 1993 as a sergeant for the Cook County sheriff’s office, where he served since June 1993.
A Cook County judge set Pradun’s bond at $ 150,000 and is expected to appear at the Skokie courthouse on Tuesday.
