Jeffrey Wegbe was found with a bullet wound in his chest after being summoned to a gunshot report in Kilburn, northwest London, shortly after midnight Wednesday.
Jeffrey Wegbe was treated by the emergency services, but was declared dead at the scene.
Metropolitan Police said they were “open-minded” about the cause and “followed a number of lines of investigation at a rapid pace”.
In a statement following Mr. Wegbe’s death, his family said: “Our dear Jeffrey was killed Wednesday morning in an incident that could only be described as a pointless violent attack.

Detectives, armed officers and paramedics launched a murder investigation shortly after midnight Wednesday, after news of a gun attack on Kilburn, Hansel Road.

Officers found Jeffrey Wegbe with a gunshot wound in the chest and was reported dead on the spot.
“Our dear Jeffrey was killed on Wednesday morning, in an incident that could only be described as a pointless violent attack,” his family said in a statement.
“Understandably, we are disturbed by the news and ask that you keep us all in your thoughts and prayers.
“We also want to thank the family, the police and the wider community for all their support.”
The investigation is being conducted by homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command.
Detective Inspector James Howarth said: “Apparently, Jeffrey Wegbe was attacked at his home when the men approached his front door and opened fire that eventually led to his death.
“We are open-minded about the cause of the attack and are quickly following a number of lines of investigation.
“I invite anyone who knows about this incident to contact my team waiting to talk to you. All information will be kept strictly confidential.”

Police said no arrests were made for murder of Jeffrey Wegbe.
