Janak Amin Wiki – Janak Amin Biography
Hillsborough’s Sergeant, who was fired on Friday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, was previously investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.
Sergeant. Janak Amin, a 21-year veteran at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, joined a deadly deputy about shooting at Riverview in July 2007.
Amin and another deputy responded to the house where a former Sarasota fireman did not cooperate and shook a gun in his front yard.
Janak Amin Investigation report
Investigators found that the fire was justified after Amin and other lawmaker William Best asked him to drop the gun several times before firing.
The Sheriff’s Office released the 145-page Interior report as part of a document breakdown after Amin’s arrest on Friday.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said at a press conference that Amin responded to an area where a prisoner fled.
The Sheriff’s office says that the prisoner was mistakenly taken to a mental facility, but that he later went out and was reported missing.
Several lawmakers on the scene reported that Amin held a gun to the man’s head and threatened to shoot if he did not give him an ID.
Other lawmakers at the scene worsened the situation and then reported it to the command staff.
Janak Amin Fired and arrested
Amin was fired and arrested shortly after the incident.
“How terrible it was that I bothered them the most,” said Chronister. “How awful was the thing that bothered them the most. You had a person in a prone position, and you have a sergeant who points the firearm away from their head, pointing to the head of individuals …”
If Amen is found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon, he may be sentenced to at least 10 years in prison under Florida’s 10-20 Law of Life.
