Jamie Samuelsen Wiki – Biography

Jamie Samuelsen was a radio host and Longtime Detroit sportswriter died at the age of 48 on Saturday, The Ticket reported.

According to the 97.1 ticket radio, radio personality Jamie Samuelsen, who has been a fixture in the sports world of Detroit for more than 20 years, died on August 1 at the age of 48.

Cause of death

Samuelsen announced the diagnosis of colon cancer just a few days ago at the show Jamie & Stoney Show to the shock and horror of the audience. He was survived by his wife Christy McDonald and their three children, Caroline, Josh, and Catherine.

Aftermath

A few employees of 97.1 gathered on Saturday afternoon for an annual company golf trip in Clarkston, while their friends and colleagues Jamie Samuelsen were in mind.

After the game was performed at Oakhurst Golf & Country Club, Samuelsen’s newest live host Mike Stone stood up and blushed Samuelsen. Dan Leach, a 97.1 live person, spoke to his colleagues.
“I said, ‘Let’s not forget how lucky we were to have each other,” Leach said. “This was the first time most of us saw it every five months.

“And Jamie, he was the best. He was as good as possible.”

Just five days after he announced that he was on the weekdays morning, Samuelsen showed he had been fighting colon cancer for 19 months, at home on Saturday night, surrounded by his family, died. He was 48 years old, and his wife, who was the anchor and reporter for Detroit PBS and their three children, Caroline, 16, Josh, 14 and Catherine, 11, left McDonald McDonald.

Samuelsen spent more than a quarter of a century on Detroit’s sports media scene and was a career spanning all media, such as radio, television and printing.

Having previously co-hosted a weekday night show with Detroit News columnist Bob Wojnowski, his best-known radio has been working with Stone on the morning drive show of 97.1 since 2016. He joined 97.1 in 2012.

Leach met Samuelsen for the first time as an intern at Fox 2, and Samuelsen was making one of the weekly “SportsWorks” segments.

“It was as if I had known him for 10 years, he was fine,” Leach said.

They then continue to work together at 97.1, occasionally hosting shows.

Leach remembered the morning show once they did it with Stone off. That morning Samuelsen shook Leach very well, Leach thought nothing. But shortly after he got out of the air, Samuelsen called to apologize. Apparently, the three people in the building suggested that Samuelsen was a bit difficult in Leach.

Leach, even as the cancer progresses recently, Samuelsen said, “No one else would do it. In a job with a lot of ego, he was a really kind and beautiful soul. Congratulations to 97.1’s Mike Sullivan (leaving) and Rico Beard (incoming) for their new job .

Samuelsen was diagnosed with colon cancer

Samuelsen announced he had colon cancer on July 27 and told show listeners he had been fighting the disease for 19 months. 97.1 Tickets reported. According to the Detroit Free Press, he said that part of the reason he kept the diagnosis secret was for his family:
