A man died and a person was seriously injured after a house explosion in Wheaton town on Monday morning.

The house was on the border between Chippewa County and Eau Claire County. According to Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk, the two victims were at home during the blast. A home-bound propane tank is a potential cause of the explosion, Kowalczyk says.
“The tank is solid, northeast of the house,” he says. “At this point, the only house apart from the explosion in the east was the only one that was damaged.”

The house sits near the border between Chippewa and Eau Claire County, which has decided who will lead the investigation.
“In the beginning, the call came and Eau Claire Police Department responded with Eau Claire County. When they arrived on the stage, they determined that it was indeed Chippewa County, and they informed us, and we responded to assist all the personal people involved with all our researchers. ”

Now, he says it depends on Chippewa County to understand exactly what happened.
“We have agents on the stage from states that are very qualified in such situations,” says Kowalczyk. “There could be a very long investigation about what it was and why it happened.”

To put into perspective how strong the explosion is, Kowalczyk says that the sofa is about 25 feet tossed in the air and stuck in a tree.
